Information for Health Professionals & Carers

We all benefit from being active and cycling is a great activity that is fun, sociable and good for physical and mental health. Cycling offers opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be active, independent and to enjoy outdoor spaces.

We regularly support health and social care professionals in the rehabilitation, treatment and support of their clients and offer free cycle hire for carers to encourage and enable regular cycling.

Accessing our Services

No referral is necessary but health and social care professionals may wish to contact us on behalf of their clients/patients or encourage individuals to contact us directly.

If anyone has support needs, it is likely that an individual assessment by us would be needed. This ensures that the most appropriate cycle and accessories are chosen to meet individual needs and to ensure that their cycling experience is positive, safe and enjoyable.

Supporting Carers

We have first-hand experience of what it takes to be a carer - we meet you every day, on bikes, in the cafe - and we want to support you in any way we can.

Our membership package allows a carer to cycle with our memebr for free - we hope this helps to make more frequent visits affordable.

We also appreciate how important social contact is - it can be lonely being a carer - and we are always delighted to welcome you to our cafe. This is your space to feel comfortable and chat or just take time for yourself, with no pressure to leave or purchase. We have indoor and outdoor seating (covered), with throws for the chillier seasons. We have a disabled toilet and are wheelchair accessible - feel free to move tables and chairs to suit your needs!

Do you have support needs? We'll need to carry out an assessment…

If you have support needs or think you may need to use one of our accessible cycles, we will need to carry out an assessment before you can hire our cycles. This helps us to understand your needs and choose the right cycle and accessories for you. Support needs may relate to a learning disability, a physical disability or a balance and coordination difficulty.

If you choose to become a Pedal Power member, the cost of your assessment is included in the annual membership cost. Find more details about membership below.
